We are always being watched. It is a fact that some except
and others refuse to ignore. The question is who is watching us and why. That question
among others is the basis for Blanc-Biehn’s new film, The Night Visitor.
The Night Visitor opens with Jen (Brianne Davis) dressed as
a catholic school girl to role play with her husband. That’s nice. Like it already.
Anyways, after a couple minutes, they are interrupted by their boy who has a
nosebleed…damnit. So the film rewinds at that point taking us back in their
lives. Turn out that they are having marital problems and their boy talks to
his computer. When this happens, everything goes static and when the video
returns picture, he has a nose bleed. Weird. The thing is what’s causing it?
The Night Visitor is an engaging thriller. It’s a simple
story but the characters really drag you in. You feel for Brianne’s Jen Stewart
and you really want to see things turn out right for her. Vedette Lim is also
good as Fanny. She has a power and presence that I enjoyed.
Jennifer Blanc has proven to be a good director with tough material.
POV films have a tendency to simply not work but The Night Visitor does a fine
job of keeping the audience into it. The film is tense, a bit sexually charged
and it has a nice cameo or two as well. Check it out!
