Demons are everywhere. Not the ones of legend and mythology,
but the ones that hide in the deepest part of our soul and make us who we are.
We create these demons and with every one that is vanquished, another is born.
This is a hard lesson learned in life as it is in the new Nicolas Cage film,
RAGE.
Cage plays Paul Maguire, a former criminal who has turned
his life around after the death of his wife.
Feeling that there should be at least one parent around to care for
their daughter, he turns over a new leaf and ends up a powerful and legitimate
business man. With a new and beautiful wife (Rachel Nichols) and a smart and
collage bound daughter, things seem to be going great. That is until a break in
while he is away. His daughter is kidnapped and a chain of events is set in
motion that threatens to destroy EVERTHING he has worked for.
RAGE is a solid film penned by Sean (Giallo) Keller and Jim
Agnew. This is not just another action revenge thriller but a layered mystery
with some surprising twists and some gut wrenching surprises. Once Paul sets
out to find his daughter, he enlists his two best friends and ex partners in
crime to help. Each has their own personal demons but do they play into the big
picture? The answers will surprise you.
It’s been a while since Nicolas Cage has done a truly solid
film and I believe this is it. Always a solid actor, he hasn’t had many meaty
scripts to play with and I believe this is an exception.
RAGE is available August 12th from IMAGE Entertainment. Check it
out!
